Sacred Heart High School, London W6

We were chosen to design and implement the Security and Fire systems for Sacred Heart High School’s new sport and science block.

The client required the installation of Intruder Alarm, Access Control, CCTV and Fire Alarm systems. All systems had to integrate with the existing systems already operating within the school.

We had to take a number of varying user requirements into consideration including multiple users of the system, out of hours use of the building for after school clubs and private rental on weekends. Also DDA and health & safety issues were of paramount importance in the school environment.

Our Solution- We designed, supplied and installed a fully IP CCTV system which utilised the schools Local Area Network (LAN) for the structured cabling. This simplified the integration to the existing CCTV systems on site and enabled full control from the IT suite in the main building.

Obstacles we overcame

As with any large building project we had to liaise and work with many different trades and be willing to accommodate delays and short time scales which were out of our control.

In addition, the project had various complexities due to the integration with the existing system. When designing the fire system we were given design drawings for the existing system but we highlighted deviations from BS 5839 and therefore took on full design responsibility for the project. When the installation was completed the new panel was networked to the schools system to form part of the overall fire protection for the school.

The Intruder alarm system was designed to be an extension of the existing school system, we integrated the systems by working closely with the incumbent security company on site.

The Access Control system was also integrated as an extension of the current system and, again, we utilised the Schools LAN to accommodate this.
