New River Village, Hornsey, London N8
We were appointed to install a networked CCTV system to protect residents and property in this award winning large residential development in North London. The site was built with no provision for CCTV and after 8 years of managing the site, the consultant chose Fidelity based on previously successful installations and client visits to other reference sites.
The brief for this project stated that the winning proposal would provide a system that could be centrally managed and recorded form one location and on operation, impossible to detect that it was not one single building.
Our Solution - The system we designed to meet the requirements of the client was based on an IP based IC Real-time system with:
- 2 networked NVR's
- 8 internal Megapixel domes
- 36 Arecont Vision external bullets
- 1 Megapixel PTZ
- 8 Ligowave Wireless links
Upon completion the client was provided with a single communications rack in their main office which housed all control and recording equipment. The 60 IP megapixel cameras installed on site can all be administered and viewed from this location and the system has already assisted the police greatly in two murder cases and multiple thefts and robberies.
Obstacles we overcame
The central design issue was that the development consisted of eight separate blocks with no existing connecting services or cable ducting. To achieve the desired result we researched and identified a specialist wireless IP technology and then designed a bespoke network of eight wireless Ethernet links. The bandwidth was greatly restricted compared to a cabled system so the choice of camera, compression and transmission modes had to be carefully planned.
